Ingredients

  • 2 cups frozen strawberries
  • 1 ripe banana ideally frozen
  • 1 cup milk any kind (dairy, almond, oat, or soy)
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt or regular/plant-based alternative
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup optional, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice

Method

  1. Gather Your Ingredients: First, lay out all your measured ingredients: frozen strawberries, banana (frozen is best!), milk, yogurt, sweetener (if using), and lemon juice. Having everything ready makes the process seamless.
  2. Add Liquids to Blender First: Pour your milk, yogurt, and fresh lemon juice into your blender carafe. Starting with liquids helps the blender blades move freely and prevents solid ingredients from getting stuck at the bottom.
  3. Add Fruit to Blender: Next, add your frozen banana and frozen strawberries to the blender. Placing the softer, frozen fruit above the liquids ensures they get properly pulled into the blades as blending begins.
  4. Incorporate Sweetener: If you're using honey or maple syrup, add it to the blender now. This allows it to mix evenly with all the other ingredients as it blends.
  5. Blend Until Smooth: Secure the lid and start blending on a low speed, gradually increasing to high. Keep blending until the mixture is completely smooth and no large chunks of fruit remain. Use your blender's tamper if needed to push ingredients towards the blades.
  6. Adjust Consistency as Needed: If your smoothie is too thick, add more milk, one tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired consistency. For a thicker smoothie, you can add a few more frozen strawberries or a couple of ice cubes.
  7. Taste and Adjust: Give your smoothie a quick taste. If you prefer it sweeter, add a little more honey or maple syrup. If you like a more tangy flavor, a tiny splash more lemon juice can work wonders.
  8. Pour and Enjoy: Once perfectly blended, pour your creamy, delicious Strawberry Banana Smoothie into a glass. Serve it immediately to enjoy its frosty texture and vibrant flavors at their best.

Notes

For the best results, always use frozen fruit for a thick, cold, and creamy texture. Add liquids to the blender first, followed by softer ingredients, then frozen ingredients. Adjust consistency by adding more milk for a thinner smoothie or more frozen fruit/ice for a thicker one. Blend on low, then gradually increase to high. This recipe is adaptable: add protein powder or nut butter for a boost, or spinach/kale for greens. For a dairy-free/vegan option, use plant-based milk and dairy-free yogurt or omit yogurt. Best enjoyed fresh, but leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 24 hours in an airtight container; stir or re-blend before serving.
