Ingredients

  • Frozen Strawberries
  • 1/2-1 Ripe Banana preferably frozen
  • Milk any preferred milk (almond, oat, dairy)
  • Whole Milk Greek Yogurt optional, for protein and tang; use plant-based for dairy-free
  • Honey or Maple Syrup optional, to taste
  • squeeze Fresh Lemon Juice optional, to brighten flavors
  • Vanilla Extract optional

Method

  1. Gather Your Ingredients: First, lay out all your measured ingredients on the counter. Having everything ready makes the blending process quick and seamless. You don't want to be searching for milk once the blender is running.
  2. Add Liquids to Blender: Pour your chosen milk into the blender first. This is a crucial step because liquids help the blades move more freely and prevent solid ingredients from getting stuck at the bottom. If you're using Greek yogurt, add that in now too.
  3. Layer in Softer Ingredients: Next, add your banana, whether it's fresh or frozen. If using fresh, place it directly on top of the liquid. If it's frozen, break it into smaller pieces if needed. Add any sweetener like honey or maple syrup, and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice.
  4. Add Frozen Strawberries: Now, toss in your frozen strawberries. By adding them last, they sit on top of the other ingredients, which allows the blender blades to catch them more effectively as the blending starts.
  5. Blend Until Smooth: Secure the lid on your blender. Start blending on a low speed to break down the frozen fruit, then gradually increase to high. Blend continuously until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy. If your blender struggles, use a tamper to push ingredients down or add a tablespoon or two more milk until it blends easily.
  6. Taste and Adjust: Once blended, taste a small spoonful. Does it need more sweetness? Add a bit more honey or maple syrup. Want more tang? A few more drops of lemon juice will do the trick. If it's too thick, add a splash more milk; too thin, add a few more frozen strawberries or a small handful of ice.
  7. Pour and Serve Immediately: Pour your perfectly blended Strawberry Banana Smoothie into a glass. Garnish with a fresh strawberry slice or a sprinkle of chia seeds if you're feeling fancy. Enjoy it right away while it's at its frosty, creamy best.

Notes

For the best results, always use frozen fruit for a thick, creamy, and cold smoothie. Add liquids first, then softer ingredients, then frozen items to your blender. If your smoothie is too thick, add more milk; if too thin, add more frozen fruit or ice. Smoothies are best enjoyed immediately, but leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. For longer storage, freeze in ice cube trays or popsicle molds.
